Our client is a very well-established distributor of a wide variety of packaging and automation equipment, in addition to various other product categories. They are expanding and adding a Field Service Technician in the Greater Toledo market to service their customers in that area. This person needs to be mechanically inclined focusing on the maintenance, repair, and calibration of automation equipment; including quick diagnosing and addressing technical issues, preparing accurate parts lists and diagnostics, and delivering outstanding customer support - a problem solver who is responsive to customers' needs. This role involves frequent travel between Toledo, OH, and Indianapolis, IN. This position is 8-5 M-F; no weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of automation equipment and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and ensure peak performance.
- Work closely with the technical support team to provide accurate part lists and diagnostics, ensuring efficient repairs and replacements.
- Communicate clearly with customers, offering technical guidance, addressing questions, and ensuring their satisfaction with products and services.
- Maintain comprehensive records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and service history.
- Continuously monitor equipment performance, identify areas for improvement, and suggest enhancements to boost efficiency and reliability.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to enhance technical knowledge and contribute to innovation.
- Travel regularly between Toledo, OH, and Indianapolis, IN.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and sales, to share insights and contribute to product development and customer success.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a Service Technician, with a focus on automation equipment and/or floor cleaning machines.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients and internal teams.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems and automation control systems.
- Familiarity with floor cleaning machines, including their components and maintenance requirements.
- Basic knowledge of computer software and networking for equipment integration and remote diagnostics.
